Easy to Make Snacks We Pack on Every Camping Trip!

On our camping trips, we usually enjoy prepared breakfasts and dinners, while lunch is kept simple with snacks or a treat from the campground’s restaurant. We also like to have quick, easy snacks on hand for lunch or late-night cravings, so we can spend more time enjoying the campground’s amenities.

Walking Tacos

There are countless reasons to love walking tacos on a camping trip, but the best one? They’re incredibly easy to make! I prepare the taco meat ahead of time at home and store it in a clear storage bag, making it easy to fit in the fridge. I either chop lettuce at home or bring a pre-shredded bag for convenience. Add a bag of shredded cheese, squeezable sour cream, and your favorite sauces or salsa, and you're all set!

We usually bring a variety pack of small chip bags for snacks and reserve the kids’ favorites for walking tacos. Alternatively, we’ve used a large bag of chips and portioned them into red solo cups. The kids love serving themselves and enjoying their tacos on the go.

Campfire Queso Dip

Another family favorite is our super simple, three-ingredient campfire queso dip! All you need is cream cheese, a can of chili beans (we love the added flavor of southwest-style chili beans), and shredded cheese. Just toss everything into a foil pan and place it on a cooking grate over the firepit. Stir it all together as it melts, and you’ve got a delicious, gooey queso dip.

There’s something about cooking over the fire that makes everything feel more exciting compared to home. The kids love the novelty and simplicity of it, making it a fun camping tradition we look forward to every trip!
