Ways to Stay when you “Rough it”
When camping at our Jellystone Park™ campground in Caledonia, you can always expect a picnic table and fire pit—perfect for marshmallow roasting. But if you’re not “glamping,” what are the other differences?
If you’ve camped in a Jellystone Park™ tent or RV space, you’re likely familiar with terms like “no hookup,” “water & electric (W/E),” or “full hookups (Water/Electric/Sewer).” However, there are more nuances to each camping style.
Tent campers have a few options. Many of our no-hookup sites are beautifully set in wooded areas, with roads and campsites gently carved into the trees—perfect for one tent and one car. For those who want water and electricity, these sites feature a more conventional layout, with manicured spaces and neatly defined boundaries.
If you’re traveling with an RV or camper, the most important thing to know is how many amps your site requires to avoid surprises when drawing electricity. All of our full-hookup sites are equipped with 20-, 30-, or 50-amp hookups, so if you need sewer access, you can’t go wrong with these.
To avoid your first vacation argument while backing up the camper, you might want to consider the convenience of a pull-through site, allowing you to quickly ease into your stay. If you upgrade to a Premium Pull-Thru Site, the concrete pad makes leveling effortless. But the real highlight is the concrete patio and fire pit surround! It helps eliminate dirt or mud tracking into the camper—especially if you’re bringing pets—which means less cleaning. As they say, “An easy camping life = a happy wife!”
